Kitchen Chemistry in South Africa 2023

Usually Scifest Africa would be a destination for the Kitchen Chemist, but that was not to be in 2023. Instead I headed to Durban to work with with Umjikelezo We-Science cooperative, putting on Kitchen Chemistry shows at schools and working with Science Centre staff and the staff of the Durban Natural History Museum.

After a week working in Durban, with short visit to Richard’s Bay, Kitchen Chemistry relocated to East London. Here I worked with the Ripples for Change charity. Ripples for Change organised a programme to allow me to work with educators in a bid to increase capacity and inspire the school staff. With luck, this ripple of “Kitchen Chemistry” will have an effect that is much wider than the original workshops.

Fortunately, there is also time for the occasional walk on the beach.
